Low Back Pain isn't
an uncommon disability nowadays in fact about eighty percent of adults
experience the same at some point in their lifetimes and it is a most common
job-related disability and a leading contributor to missed working days. It is
not a gender-specific problem, men and women both are an equal victim of low back pain, and it can vary in
intensity from a dull, constant ache to a sudden, sharp sensation that causes
uneasiness leaving the person incapacitated. Pain can begin abruptly leading
the consequence of an accident or by lifting heavy weight, or it can also
develop over time due to age-related changes of the spine. Busy and hectic
lifestyles can also set the stage for low
back pain, especially when a weekday routine of getting too little exercise
is punctuated by a strenuous weekend workout.
The Causes Behind The
Low Back Pain
Herniated or ruptured discs- when the intervertebral discs
become compressed and bulge outward it causes herniation or rupture, causing low back pain. Spondylolisthesis- it is
a condition in which a vertebra of the lower spine slips out of place or
position, pinching the nerves exiting the spinal column. Spinal Stenosis is a kind
of disability in which spinal column get narrow resulting in pressure on the
spinal cord. And nerves can cause severe pain or numbness with walking that may
lead to leg weakness and sensory loss. Intervertebral disc degeneration- this
is one of the most common mechanical cause of low back pain. It usually occurs when the usual rubbery disc loose
integrity as a normal process of aging. In a healthy back, the intervertebral
discs provided height allowing the bending, flexion, and torsion of the lower
back. As the discs get deteriorated, they lose their ability to cushioning.
Remedies Should Be
Taken To Prevent Low Back Pain
Doctors strongly recommend stretching always before exercise
or other strenuous physical activity. Be it home or work, one must make sure
that the work surfaces are at a comfortable height. It is a strong
recommendation of a doctor for everyone to wear comfortable, low heeled shoes. It
is suggested to never try to lift objects that are too heavy, otherwise, it may
cause serious low back pain. Instead,
lift from the knees, pull the stomach muscles in, and keep the head down and in
line with a straight back. While lifting, keep objects close to the body.

The huge majority of low
back pain is mechanical in nature. Most people today are suffering from low back pain but it is quite sad we
are still not serious about its vigorous result. Treatment for low back pain can be dependable on the degree
of the pain whether acute or chronic. Recurring back pain which causes from
improper body mechanics and can be checked by taking care of body movement i.e.
by avoiding abrupt movements that jolt or strain the back, maintaining correct
posture, and lifting objects properly.
